Q: In your experience, what really sets Compass apart from other brokerages?

Sami: It’s a combination of culture, network, and one of my favorite of our eight entrepreneurship principles, Dreaming Big. Regarding culture, Compass has built a collaborative, supportive environment that’s extremely rare to come across in the industry. Agents at Compass don’t just work alongside each other—they’re genuinely invested in helping one another succeed. If you walk into any Compass office across the country, you’ll see agents sharing tips and best practices, and collaborating in such an inspiring way. There is a palpable energy that truly makes you feel like you’re part of a community.

Next is the Compass network. Being part of Compass means being part of a truly connected group of incredible agents across the country. Compass agents can seamlessly work together on transactions, refer clients across state lines with confidence and easily tap into new markets. In 2023, 18% of all Compass transactions came from inter-company referrals, clearly demonstrating the power of the Compass network. 

Last but not least, at Compass, we embrace a ‘Dream Big’ mindset. We’re not focused on competing with other brokerages; instead, we’re passionate about what we’re building, and who we’re building it for, our agents. 



Q: How does Compass technology help agents be more productive?

Sami: While the average agent uses over 12 different technology systems to run their business, Compass agents only use one. Our single integrated technology platform was built in-house with a team of 1,500+ software engineers, and it was entirely built based on agent feedback. Due to our platform being built in-house, we have the ability to update and iterate our technology to adjust with the ever changing needs of our agents. In addition to our platform being user-friendly, we have a mobile app that mirrors our platform. The app is incredibly intuitive, allowing agents to work from anywhere and communicate directly with clients, leading to increased productivity. I often hear from agents at other brokerages that they are already using the Compass app for search, because of the ease of use compared to what is provided to them. 



Q: Compass’s culture is known to be both collaborative and driven. How does that culture play out in everyday business?

Sami: The culture at Compass is extremely special. Agents here aren’t just in it for themselves—they’re here to build each other up. Every day, you see agents sharing ideas, strategies, and best practices with their colleagues. It’s inspiring to watch, and it truly creates an uplifting, motivating atmosphere. In addition, At Compass, we are very intentional about who we bring on board. We focus on partnering with agents who are collaborative, have a growth mindset, and are passionate about raising the bar in real estate. 

When agents first join Compass, I often hear things like, “This feels different,” or “I feel re-energized and reinvigorated.” Being surrounded by people who genuinely want you to succeed is powerful, and it makes a significant difference in how agents approach their work.



Q: What programs and resources does Compass offer to support agent growth?

Sami: Compass is dedicated to helping agents reach their full potential, and we have a significant amount of resources tailored specifically for this purpose. Compass has an in-house coaching team, along with several programs that focus on practical growth. One program in particular, “6AMERS,” is an accountability group that meets weekly at 6 a.m. to set goals and start the day with a healthy mindset. Another, “Momentum Mondays,” is led by our Co-Head of Coaching, Ashley Donat, who brings in industry leaders to share tactical insights and strategies. It’s short but impactful, and agents love it. These are just two of many examples of coaching opportunities at Compass. The options are truly endless. 

In addition, we also have affinity groups and networking events, both virtual and in-person, where agents can connect with like-minded professionals. These groups range from categories such as Women of Compass, Married at Compass, Dogs of Compass, etc - you name it, we likely have it!  Beyond formal groups, agents here at Compass naturally hold each other accountable and build real relationships that push them forward. That kind of support can’t be manufactured—it’s genuine and makes a real impact on agents’ businesses.
